Private pads with pools are the preferred place to stay in this Balinese beach town beloved by surfers and yogis.

From Berawa to Batu Bolong to Echo Beach, Canggu nudges up against some of Bali’s best beaches, famous for their black sands and surf breaks. It’s a great option if you’re looking for something a touch more tranquil in Indonesia’s “Island of the Gods” than developed Kuta or Seminyak to the south. Unlike those resorts, most people choose villas in Canggu, set in the main town, by the beach or among the rice paddies – maybe lounging by the pool during the day, taking a yoga class or hitting the waves, then dining out on the town’s wholesome, healthy-leaning food, such as açaí bowls and fresh seafood. Here’s our guide to the best villas in Canggu, all bookable with Culture Trip.

After your swim, eat breakfast outdoors before curling up with a book in a wicker chair swing. You’re within walking distance of surf-worthy waves at Echo Beach and popular brunch spot Canteen Cafe.

The plush villas have been designed in tune with their nature-rich, slow-living environs. Put yourself in the healing hands of the in-house therapist, make use of the transportation service to explore the area, then devour a wine-paired dinner courtesy of the pro culinary team, whose specialities include pork ribs, seafood and satays.
