Located centrally on Valletta’s Republic Street in front of the National Library is Caffe Cordina. The Cordina family launched the business back in 1837, starting with just a small outlet specialising in traditional Maltese sweets and desserts. Growing from strength to strength through the generations, a branch of Caffe Cordina was opened in Valletta in 1944. Expanding to serving food and beverages too, Caffe Cordina today comprises tea rooms, a coffee bar, patisserie and gelateria, but is most popular for its desserts and cakes, with a separate menu dedicated to its delicacies. Still made in the traditional way, the popularity of its sweets means it can now also be purchased from outlets around Malta and Gozo.

Founded in Italy in 2002 by two childhood friends, Amorino is becoming more and more widespread across Europe along with boutiques in northeast America, Dubai, Doha and even Casablanca. Malta’s branch is located on the main street of Valletta, and Amorino is the perfect place to grab a dessert to either enjoy seated outside or while continuing to browse the shops surrounding it. In addition to serving waffles, crêpes, macarons, desserts and Italian coffees, it is most popular for its ice creams and sorbets. Its organic and natural ingredients are carefully sourced to produce traditional Italian ice cream in irresistible flavours. Select your ice cream to be served in a cone rather than a tub to see the artisan staff serve you with your selection of flavours presented in the form of a rose. Beautiful to the eyes as well as to the taste buds.
