Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam
Southeast Asia has seen a lot of history come and go, as this 11-day multi-country epic showcases. We’ll start in Thailand, where you’ll visit three of Bangkok’s most important and ancient temples – Wat Traimit (Golden Buddha), Wat Pho and the Marble Temple. In Cambodia you’ll marvel at Angkor Wat during sunrise. This temple complex is the world’s largest religious structure, and it offers a fascinating insight into the Khmer Empire, as well as the place of Buddhism in Cambodian culture. On day six you’ll explore a more modern, and tragic, side of Cambodian history when we visit the Killing Fields and adjacent Genocide Museum, which lays out the horrors of the Pol Pot regime. Having cruised down the Mekong and learnt about rural culture in Vietnam, we’ll eventually reach Ho Chi Minh, a city with a complex history through French colonial rule and the Vietnam War, with plenty of landmarks, gardens and monuments speaking to the city’s unique past.
